Interserve, one of the world’s foremost support and construction service companies, was one of the early adopters of Kykloud and has been using the software as an asset management and surveying tool since 2011.
Interserve is a FTSE 250 company headquartered in the UK with a global workforce in excess of 80,000 people. The company offers advice, design, construction equipment, facilities management and frontline public services. However, it was the Interserve team responsible for managing a portfolio of high profile public assets who first recognised how Kykloud could add value to the service being offered by external surveying consultants.
Ben Evans, lifecyle manager at Interserve commented: “Interserve manages a range of public assets and a major part of our role is to manage the lifecycle of those assets using the data and information gathered through regular surveying programmes.
“I was made aware of the emerging technology of Kykloud and could see that this new kind of mobile surveying tool could bring huge business benefits, not only to our own business but to the consultants and suppliers who work with us to provide that service"
“We looked at Kykloud from the perspective of the asset manager rather than the surveyor using the tool so we had a different set of assessment criteria. We needed to know how the technology could impact on our processes and asset intelligence beyond carrying out the initial survey and data capture. We also needed to know what benefit such software could offer us as asset managers compared to other similar types of software on the market"
"In short, we wanted to know how kykloud could improve the whole survey process. This included project costs and day-to-day operations but also what the benefits were for us as the client. We knew pretty early on that kykloud could be a game changer in terms of how we identify consultants to work with as we could see the impact the effective use of such software could have on the efficiency and accuracy of surveying projects going forward.”
"Recent surveying projects managed by Interserve have included kykloud within the tender document as a key requirement for consideration. This helped us to identify firms who were ahead of the curve in terms of utilising mobile surveying technology but also provide a more cost efficient surveying service for the assets we manage. Consultants looking to bid for surveying work on schemes such as Hedley School in Telford or (insert information on MOD base), were required to show evidence of an established use of kykloud technology to complete the surveying process."
“We have come to see kykloud as a mark of quality in the external consultants we choose to work with. Now that we understand how it can impact on the surveying process and what data output we will receive as a client, we look more favourably on an external firm using kykloud and certainly that was the case in the four projects kykloud has been used for to date.”
“Given the flexibility of mobile technology in supporting faster and more accurate surveying techniques, kykloud uses the technology well to improve efficiency at both the point of survey and the post-survey data management. As the client, I can immediately access the data via the web portal and respond to invoices quickly in relation to work that has visibly been completed. It means I am fully up to date on how the project is progressing at any given time.”
“One of the major advantages of kykloud was the lifecycle management element of the software. Clearly kykloud looks beyond the capture to support ways in which the data can be used to inform a comprehensive set of asset management services. One click of a button and I can have a detailed overview of a building 5 or even 30 years in the future but moreover, I can access the surveying data almost immediately which is incredibly useful from a client point of view.”
“As a business we aim to work with the right team of consultants that can offer us the best skill set for any given project. For us, that team now also includes kykloud.”
