Hickton, the nationwide Clerk of Works company, first used Kykloud on a project it was overseeing on behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities in the UK.
As a proud supporter of the global Charity, the Barnsley-based business was commissioned to carry out condition surveys, initially on four of the 14 Ronald McDonald Houses around the UK to help the Charity understand the exact condition of its properties, and plan maintenance across them more efficiently.
The team used Kykloud technology to complete the project, and after familiarising themselves with the software and recognising the benefits, were quick to use it again when they were appointed by McDonald’s to carry out condition surveys on a sample of its high street fast food restaurants.
Peter Dracup, director of Projects at Hickton Consultants, tells us how Kykloud is helping them to deliver a better service for its clients.
“We were appointed to carry out detailed condition surveys of 21 high street McDonald’s stores. Typically these are some of the company’s older properties; not purpose built factory units, but ex retails/ commercial buildings in town centres.”
“Regardless of location the McDonalds brand is instantly recognisable, not only for the famous golden arches, but also the look and feel of the interiors. With such a strong brand we knew there would be a lot of repetition across the different stores which meant Kykloud was the ideal tool for the job.”
“We were able to predetermine the exact data that needed to be captured and created a standardised template for our surveyors to use. This ensured consistency across all the properties and made sure that we didn’t omit anything from the survey. The software allowed us to add comments and photographs directly on site, which reduced the need for post survey administrative work.”
“The software also allowed us to automatically produce individual written reports for each site. While this is what the client required, we could have generated a more holistic report to give us a view across the entire portfolio if that had been preferred.”
“Kykloud reduces the total time it takes to carry out the survey and produce a written report. It also encourages consistency across multi-site projects. The report generating tool has been upgraded so that you can chose to present your report in whichever way suits your business or that of your client.”
“Kykloud does require a slightly different way of thinking. Traditionally surveyors would make notes and that photographs on site and only really consider the final report once back in the office. However, to get the best out of Kykloud you need to think about the end report while on site so that the software can automatically generate a client-ready report at a touch of a button; but in my opinion this is definitely a change worth making.”
