This year’s RICS Building Surveying Conference was bigger and better than ever with 500 of the UK’s leading building surveyors in attendance and the Kykloud team were delighted to be a part of it.

Kykloud was asked to form part of a session dedicated to helping SME surveying practices to grow their business and take it to the next level. We looked at the role that technology and mobile surveying software like ours can play in improving efficiencies and increasing margins and were delighted by the number of surveying practices either already utilising technology in their day to day work or starting to consider the adoption of mobile technology.

Dr Neil Blake of CBRE provided a great and rather upbeat overview of the economy – predicting a property sector boom with a 10% p.a increase in construction output over the next 3-4 years.

Dr Blake also spoke about the increased focus on the secondary market following the recent decline in new build and the positive impact that this will have on the building surveying industry – building surveyors will be in increasing demand to undertake condition surveys and advise on refurb strategies.

And definitely a favourite of mine was Wayne Hemmingway (of Red or Dead fame) who inspirationally and colourfully talked about how he believes that “design is for the common good”.

All in all another great RICS event and I suspect most of us walked away with some nugget of knowledge that we didn’t have when the day began.

We definitely walked away with lots of new interest in Kykloud and a huge number of people wanting to find out more about how our mobile surveying software can help their business.
