Following previous successes at ‘Build London’ and ‘Build Qatar’ live events in 2012, the team from BIM Academy HQ have succeeded in their bid to take home the trophy at Build Sydney Live using kykloud Whole Life Costing Software.
The tired but dedicated team were tasked with designing an international convention centre at Sydney’s Darling Harbour as part of the live project (see the twitter hashtag #buildsydneylive for real time updates). Clearly demonstrating a sustainable design using BIM principles, the BIM Academy HQ team were announced as the winners after a marathon event involving submissions from across the world and all different time zones.
Kykloud played its part in the team’s success by providing its whole life costing software to the international BIM Academy team, based in locations including Newcastle, Oslo, Sydney and Melbourne.
The whole life costing software with additional in-built whole life carbon functionality of Kykloud proved to be a strong asset to the team during the main design phase of the project. Using a data driven approach to reporting on the whole life operational costs of the building meant the team were able to demonstrate the sustainability of the project 25 and even 40 years into the future.
The team has been blogging regularly at the BIM Academy website or search the twitter hashtag #buildsydneylive to view Build Sydney Live as it happened. Take a look at the fly through video http://vimeo.com/aecom/bsl to learn more about how the competition panned out.
